IGL Coatings had on July 2018 achieved yet another milestone by receiving accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) that its quality management systems (QMS) for the manufacture of functional coatings and chemicals has been assessed and registered against the provision of ISO 9001 : 2015.
IGL Coatings developed and implemented our quality management system in order to improve the overall performance of the organisation, to consistently meet or exceed our customer’s expectations for product quality and performance, to enhance our customer service and after sales services to meet our customer’s requirements and continual improvement of our process and systems.
The decision to work towards ISO 9001 accreditation demonstrates IGL Coatings ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality and consistent products and services to our clients and our ongoing investment in technology, research and development.
To become ISO 9001:2015 compliant, IGL Coatings underwent an evaluation and audited process which included quality management system development, a management system documentation review, audit and initial assessment. This enabled us to review our processes to improve where necessary in order to provide our customers.
The ISO 9001:2015 certification is the assurance that all testing and calibration laboratories, certification and inspection bodies have been assessed against internationally recognised standards to demonstrate their competence, impartiality and performance capability and that IGL Coatings has robust, clearly defined procedures in place in all our business areas such as Research and Development (R&D), production, supply chain management, risk management, handling of documents and data and strong business continuity processes.
Additionally the ISO 9001:2015 accreditation by UKAS is recognised internationally thorough European and world multilateral recognition agreements, meaning that the accreditations by UKAS signify that standards have been met and are recognised internationally without the need for any additional testing.
In addition to the accreditation and certification received, in order to continuously improve, IGL Coatings is also excited to announce that we are also in the process of migrating to an integrated ERP service in order to give us valuable insights about the statistics of our coatings and cleaning products produced and processes carried out on a daily basis. This ensures easier traceability of our supply chain and also converts customer feedback into project tasks for our R&D team.

WHAT IS ISO AND THE UKAS ACCREDITATION?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an international agency composed of the national standards bodies of more than 160 countries. The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. UKAS represents the United Kingdom on three European and international bodies – the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
Accreditation by UKAS means that evaluators i.e. testing and calibration laboratories, certification and inspection bodies have been assessed against internationally recognised standards to demonstrate their competence, impartiality and performance capability.
The ISO 9001 is the only internationally recognised standard for QMS. The standard caters for manufacturing and service industries. Organizations all over the world use these international standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Organisations which are certified to this standard reflect evidence of a business operation which is supported by a fundamental and robust quality management system platform.
