Your sales pitch is the single thing that could either get your business off the ground or plunge your business into oblivion. It really does matters.

The rule of thumb for customers is that if you are unable to convince them, someone else will be able to convince them.

Statistically, the odds for success are not great. You can beat the statistics, however, by crafting a sales pitch that that turns heads and gets funded.

What are the ingredients of an ultra-compelling, irresistible, outstanding, and unforgettable sales pitch?

1. Keep it below ten minutes.

The shorter your sales pitch is, the better. Timing is crucial.

A great product or service will not mean anything if you are unable to distill it to a few impactful moments. The more concise you are, the more effective it is. Below are some timing guides:

  • If you say that you’ll take “only X minutes,” then take at least one minute less.
  • If you are told, “You only have X minutes to explain,” then take at least five minutes less.
  • If you say, “One last thing” or something similar, then make sure it’s truly the one last thing.
  • Move at a good pace. Don’t rush at the end.

Whats really great about taking only ten minutes is, if the customers are genuinely interested, they’ll ask questions. If they are not interested, then some time is saved for both of you.

2. The power of story.

Storytelling is a scientifically-proven way to capture a listener’s attention and hold it. More importantly it makes your sales pitch unforgettable.

Customers are flooded with sales pitch that contains facts and numbers. If they want that information, they can get it. What you can offer that not many can do it is to convey your sales pitch into a story. Everyone loves a good story, even the most data-driven customer.

So, tell your story and tell it right. You’re bound to gain attention, and the orders will follow.

3. Explain exactly what your product or service is.

Show your potential customers a picture of, or give them the actual product or service to see, touch and feel.

Be careful not to drone endlessly on about your product or service. Honestly, investors don’t really care about your product as much as they care about the end results.

4. Explain exactly your product or service value proposition.

If you are unable to deliver your value proposition to your customers you will end up into the massive pool of same product same service.

5. Be wildly enthusiastic.

If you are not passionate about your own product or service, you will not be able to deliver your sales
pitch in the most optimum level. You can’t fake passion.

A useful technique for increasing your energy level is to add about 50% more energy than you feel comfortable with. Entrepreneurs or sales person must crawl out of their comfort zone.

Wild enthusiasm enhances your sophistication, insight, integrity and realism.

6. Dress professionally.

We heard of the saying “Do not judge a book by its cover” but in the real world we live in, you can judge a person by the way he or she looks. That may be unfair, and you may hate it, but there is no escape from this natural human tendency.

A good looking professional attire will pay for itself a thousand times over when you are closing sales again and again. So, don’t skimp.

7. Practice makes perfect.

Practice your sales pitch. And then practice it again. And again.

8. Anticipate questions, and answer them ahead of time.

If a customer is interested, he or she will ask more questions. Be ready for these questions. By planning skillful and persuasive answers to the tough questions, you will be able to awe your customers.

Conclusion

The goal of a successful  sales pitch is to have customers begging to buy your product or service. It might sound too good to be true, but it is possible.

When you successfully deliver on what a a customer wants to hear, you will have a truly irresistible sales pitch.
