Ceramic coating service for rim protection can be a great addition to your detailing service. And if you’re already offering ceramic coating and auto detailing for body paint, adding ceramic coating on wheels in your service is only logical. It offers extra protection to those dazzling rims in the long run and cuts your maintenance job in half.

Ceramic coating rims to add protection

Wheels are the lowest part of a car, exposing them to the most extreme of contaminants. Those fancy rims can be one of the most beaten down part of a vehicle, speeding through road dust and muddy puddles to withstanding high temperature as well as brake dust. This is where ceramic coating for wheels comes to the rescue. Not only does ceramic coating adds shine to the rims, it provides protection to the most vulnerable part of your customer’s car.

Ceramic coating without paint correction

A typical ceramic coating work can take a few days to be perfected. However, a ceramic coating job without paint correction will consume less time. As most work would be in decontaminating the rust clumped onto the surface, wheels generally require minimal polishing. Which is why most detailers will take the waiting time between layering for body paint ceramic coating to work on wheels. Increasing productivity and profit in less time consumption? That’s a big yes!

Cost to ceramic coat wheels

If your customer is looking for something to add a little zing to their ride but don’t have the extra time and resources to spend, ceramic coating for wheels is a great cross-sell. Best part about ceramic coating for wheels is that it also reduces the legwork needed the next time you need to wash coated surfaces. Dealing with brake dust can be time consuming. With ceramic coating, the amount of agitation needed to remove contaminants is significantly reduced. How to apply ceramic coating that protects wheels

Consider offering ceramic coating for wheels because it benefits both your customers and your detailing service in the long run. And it’s only appropriate for you to know the how-to of wheel ceramic coating. That’s why we’re laying down the basics of turning those rims into dazzling round boys with ecocoat wheel.

Step 1: Decontaminating the wheel surface to prepare for ecocoat wheel

Sufficient chemical bonding of any ceramic coating layer is important to ensure coating longevity. Ensure that the wheels are clean from buildups and other contaminants before cracking open the bottle of ecocoat wheel. We highly recommend decontaminating all involved surface with ecoclean iron to remove any rust or brake dust. Last but not least, please keep a steady temperature during ecocoat wheel application, preferably between the range of 20-26°C (68-78.8°F).

Step 2: Applying ceramic coating to the wheel surface with ecocoat wheel

Installing ecocoat wheel, our self-cleaning and brake dust resistant wheel coating, is pretty straightforward. Once you’re done with decontamination and cleaning, move on to Step 2. Just make sure your ceramic coating applicator is suitable for those rims with tight spaces between the spokes. Keeping the liquid inside your ecocoat wheel bottle unstirred, you can follow these key steps to applying ecocoat wheel.

  1. Drip ecocoat wheel onto your applicator, a few drops should suffice for a 3 x 3 feet area
  2. Apply lightly onto the rims, going in vertical and horizontal motions over the surface to overlap the coated areas
  3. Wait for 2-5 minutes or until there’s a small resistance then you can buff off the coated wheel surface
  4. Depending on your usage of heat lamps, give the coating 1-2 hours to cure before applying the second layer
  5. Using a fresh applicator, follow steps 1 through 3 again for the second layer application
  6. You’re done with ecocoat wheel!

Important Note: Always check the technical data sheet included in your ecocoat wheel kit for detailed specifications.
